Diet drinks increase risk of stroke.

Turmeric may reduce the risk of stroke

Drinking Artificially sweetened soft drinks is associated with a higher risk of stroke and dementia.

​

Study found that higher recent and higher cumulative intake of artificially sweetened soft drinks were associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke, all-cause dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease dementia.

Sweetened Beverage Consumption and the Risk of Stroke

Greater recent consumption of artificially sweetened soft drink was associated with an increased risk of stroke, with the strongest associations observed for ischemic stroke.

Higher cumulative intake of artificially sweetened soft drink was also associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke. Neither intake of total sugary beverages nor intake of sugar-sweetened soft drink was associated with the risks of stroke

FACE -Check their face. Has their mouth drooped?

ARMS -Can they lift both arms?

SPEECH -Is their speech slurred? Do they understand you?

The major risk factors for stroke include:

  • High blood pressure.

  • Diabetes.

  • Heart and blood vessel diseases. ...

  • High LDL cholesterol levels.

  • Smoking.

  • Brain aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). ...

  • Infections or conditions that cause inflammation, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Age.

Turmeric and STROKE recovery

Another  bioactive compound found in turmeric promotes stem cell proliferation and differentiation in the brain, reveals new research published today in the open access journal Stem Cell Research & Therapy. The findings suggest aromatic turmerone could be a future drug candidate for treating neurological disorders, such as stroke and Alzheimer's disease. Curcumin is another bioactive compound found in tumeric that may help improve brain function after a STROKE.
