Among 1,171 patients with advanced metastatic colorectal cancer, consumption of 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day was significantly associated with longer survival and a lower risk of the cancer worsening. (1)
Interestingly, the association was for both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee.

Past studies have found that coffee drinking was also associated with with an increase in survival among those with stage-3 colon cancer.

Coffee contains a myriad of chemical compounds including,
Acids and anhydrides - Quinic acid, 3,5-Di caffeoylquinic acid.
Alkaloids - Caffeine, Putrescine, Theophylline, Trigonelline.
Alcohols - Quinic acid, Acetoin. and Aldehydes to name a few.

We don't know what  is the mode of action but we do know that drinking coffee may be of benefit.
